FreeBSD agent

Hello,
I would like to ask if you plan to create an Agent installation for FreeBSD servers as well? With some modifications, I managed to get everything working. So I am backing up FreeBSD servers as well. But I would like to have an official agent from you.

If you have borg installed already on FreeBSD, it should just install. does it fail? can you send me the logs, I don't have a FreeBSD OS to test on.

Hello,
the problem is that on FreeBSD the default shell is sh and not bash. Scripts that install python, pip etc... will not start the installation. If you want, I can provide you with a test FreeBSD server to test the Agent deployment. You can debug the installation and add it to the project.

Added support for FreeBSD in latest release. requires: pkg install bash before running.

Thanks, the installation is now running without errors. Everything installs, the service registers and starts. But if I try to install borg using the GUI, I get the error message "[Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'pip3'".

@petrhud The pip3 error on FreeBSD is fixed — the borg updater now supports FreeBSD's pkg package manager (pkg install borgbackup) and falls back from pip3 to pip when pip3 doesn't exist. Fix will be in v2.18.0.

In the meantime, you can install borg manually: pkg install borgbackup
