2.1.0.4 not updating ping on Thermos server

I have a modpack that I created and run on my own server and I have recently found that the ping does not update at all unless I say for instance, change a players nickname (as I have essentials on the server) and then it updates all pings for that moment and then just shows those pings until something else like a nickname change is done again.

This mod uses the information that minecraft uses to draw the connection bars, I may look into it at some point. I was thinking of writing my own ping calculator that would fix issues like this.
