Can we have a "Remember Window Size and Position" setting = yes/no?

Expected behavior of the wanted feature

I know about geometry and autofit and there was an issue that asked for my setting at #3201 but the user closed it after accepting geometry and autofit as an acceptable solution.

However, I'd like to ask for the actual setting to be added, because for me, it is much easier to change "no" to "yes" in such a setting that actually remembers my last used window size and position instead of a predefined value, especially because it accomplishes more than an pre-defined value does by remembering my window size and position as I change it from time to time.

Can we have such a setting added to mpv? Something along the lines of --rememberwindowsizeposition=yes/no?

Again, pre-defined values are not the same as automatically remembering the last place and size and put the mpv window. I consider it a useful feature worth adding.

mpv.net has this feature, it saves data for various features in an XML file (.NET didn't support JSON back then, now it does).

I don't remember if the feature was requested or if I added it without request.

I think that for a certain amount of users it can be helpful, probably not many though.

MPC-BE (Windows only), which is easily the second-best player after mpv, supports it too.

MPC-BE has many vulnerabilities and its developers are very rigid. Many community enthusiasts have contributed fixes and improvement patches, but they never accept them.

Therefore, using MPC-BE is not recommended.

I get that but this is a basic feature worth having on all platforms. I'm surprised mpv didn't already have it when I needed it.
