Broken with TexLive 2017

With texlive 2017 I'm getting errors like this one https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/383668/mktextfm-ecss0400-fails.

If/when I find a fix I'll send a PR, but in the mean time here's a heads-up.

It appears to be triggered by the \RequirePackage[T1]{fontenc}, because if I comment out everything except that one it still breaks, and if I then also comment out that command everything starts working again.

Adding \RequirePackage{lmodern} in front of the \RequirePackage[T1]{fontenc} or using xelatex fixes compilation, but the titles don't show up on the title page anymore.

Using https://github.com/josephwright/beamer/releases/tag/v3.43a also fixes compilation but still causes the titles to not show up anymore.

I just ran into the same issue. The commit above fixes it. Would be good if the files were updated.
