Help Options redirects to third-party website

Hi Peter,

I’ve been using JoinFS for many years, and only recently noticed the following behavior during normal usage (currently on JoinFS v3.2.17).

From the Help menu, when selecting:

• Support
• Manual
• ATC Radar

the application opens a browser page that redirects to:
https://italianivolanti.it/nuovo-server-joinfs/

I’m not sure how long this has been happening or if it is intentional, but from a user perspective it is a bit confusing and gives the impression that this third-party website is officially linked to or endorsed by JoinFS.

I just wanted to report this in case these Help menu entries are expected to point to official JoinFS resources instead.

As a side note, since some time ago I mentioned that I was working on a graphical/UI remake concept for JoinFS, I wanted to let you know that, for clarity and neutrality, I have deliberately excluded any links pointing to this third-party website from my development work.

the domain joinfs.net changed owners and it seems like the Italieni Volanti bought the domain. joinfs.net redirects to their multiplayer page. This is why it seems that the links in v3.2.17 are pointing there now.

If you want you can share your new UI concept. I welcome collaboration on my fork.

thanks for the clarification about the domain change — that explains the behavior we’re seeing.

Just to clarify one point: VOYFS is not a fork of JoinFS.
It’s a VOY-specific distribution based on the JoinFS codebase, with targeted adjustments on UI, defaults and operational flows, while keeping full compatibility with the standard JoinFS protocol and servers.

The goal is mainly to stabilize real-world usage (model scanning/matching, defaults, UX clarity) within a structured VA environment, not to create an alternative platform.

Thanks as well for picking up Peter’s legacy and giving continuity to the project — I’ll be glad to share our work as soon as it’s in a presentable and stable form.
