Rationale
The edx-django-release-utils repo contains management commands that are part of the 2U Open edX deployment pipeline. They are specific to how 2U deploys the platform and aren't relevant to the rest of the community. The package is also not installed by default in edx-platform so there is no major issue with dropping support that I'm aware of.
Removal
The repository will be archived.
Replacement
Any operators that want to continue to use and modify the package should fork it and maintain it themselves.
