Describe the session
Modern data practitioners face a persistent challenge: how to explore and visualize massive geospatial datasets without standing up heavyweight infrastructure. In this session, we’ll show how the integration of kepler.gl, an open-source geospatial visualization tool, with DuckDB, an in-process analytical database, unlocks a powerful local workflow for interactive analytics. By combining DuckDB’s lightning-fast SQL queries on formats like Parquet and CSV with kepler.gl’s intuitive, high-performance map interface, users can transform billions of rows into dynamic, filterable visualizations—right on their laptop. We’ll walk through the architecture of this integration, demo real-world use cases such as mobility data analysis, and highlight how this pairing enables a new class of scalable, portable, and reproducible geospatial workflows.
