Project Status

I see there hasnt been active development in some time here. Is this project dead? 
I build my blog again the Gatsby example, but notices a new version had changed a lot, however in trying to build the project, I'm encountering a number of dependency issue. I'm uncertain is theyre worth trying to troubleshoot myself or not. Is this project considered dead or merely inactive?
