Failed to preview local fileAllowing File Access PermissionHow to turn it on: In the Chrome Extensions management page, locate the installed "Markdown Reader" extension, click on "Details", and find the option "Allow access to file URLs" in the details page. Switch it to the enabled state (Please rest assured that "Markdown Reader" only performs read and display operations on markdown files and will not modify or upload user file data).

@shooteram There is an internal check for "text/markdown" here, but there are also some prerequisite conditions. For instance, the URL needs to end with ".md", ".txt", or ".markdown"... Does the document you preview meet this requirement? |

You're not wrong, but detecting whether a page meets the rendering conditions on an arbitrary page requires injecting and running extension code. To avoid intruding on arbitrary webpages, the Markdown reader has imposed a restriction: it renders only URLs of the .md type (and related), rather than solely considering the content-type. |

No problem, just wasn't what I was looking for.I was anticipating using my browser to view markdown files. However, that's not what this extension didi. Instead it displayed raw text. Moreover, I noticed that my browser has slowed down since adding the extension. I ran your extension on Google Chrome, however, I also use Edge (occasionally), and FireFox. Neither of my alternate browsers slowed down the way that Chrome did. Grant it, that Chrome, which used to be the fastest browser has become a memory pig and currently takes longer than a stripped down version of itself, but, when takes nearly 60 seconds, just to display the homepage, that's really slow. Just tested !I just closed and reopened the browser and removing the extension did vastly improve the startup speed. Sorry. |

Hi I like this extension, it functions great, but it seemed to have one big limitation: that there aren't choices on the rendering of the markdown other than the github flavor. I'm picky about style (partly due to my eyesight) and would like some choices on that, e.g., to choose one with a serif font, the proportions thereof, and to manage the margins. Anyway I'll check back in if see if you've added those features and perhaps re-install it if so. |

Hello, sorry it took me so long to reply. But, yes, I'm looking for a useful way to move between in-browser AI chat and formats I can edit, share, and save as a document that non-tech people can use. It doesn't even need to be functional HTML, just legible with code snippets separated from the text and some basic formatting. I've come to quite like markdown and I know (now) there are ways to convert markdown to HTML, but I export from browser to markdown then export as HTML/PDF/DOC as necessary. |

Hello, love the dark theme and the collapsible table of contents. However, I couldn't get the auto refresh feature to work. I've enabled full access to local files, private windows, and data on all sites. That was the only deal breaker for me. If you have suggestions I could try to get this to work, I would gladly welcome them. Cheers from Wisconsin, ~ Ben |

Not sure where'd you'd put it, but if possible it would be handy to make it clear - before they run it - the steps to enable local file load. Pretty common to have docs locally in md format and a shame if people mistakenly assumed it doesn't work (it does work, well!) |

Anyway, thank you so much for your feedback! In fact, there is a reminder in the popup (by clicking the extension icon in the upper right corner of the browser), but currently, the icon is hidden by default after the extension is installed, so most people do not see this reminder. As a result, they may notice that the file is not rendering and then uninstall the extension. Because of this, if permissions are not granted, the file page will not be processed by the extension, and no reminder can be displayed on the page, which is quite confusing for me. I will work on improving this issue. Wishing you a pleasant experience! |

Markdown Reader needs to support Markdown files from various URLs, including both local files and remote links. To achieve this, the extension already uses the minimum required permissions necessary to function effectively. If you know of a better way to achieve this with fewer permissions, I would truly appreciate your suggestions. We take privacy very seriously. Our Privacy Policy clearly states that we do not collect, store, or transmit any of your document content. I only have the Ubuntu arm64 system at hand. I used the same version of Chromium as yours and gave it a try. The extension worked properly. You could provide more information, such as whether there were any error messages in the console, or try installing an older version of the extension that works properly. |

The basic functions can be used without logging in. Logging in is only for managing subscriptions. The rendering method is to open a .md file in the browser, and then you can preview it. However, the method of previewing by pasting text is not supported now, I will make improvements in the future. Thank you for your suggestion! |

Then I guess it's the UX: I installed the extension, reloaded a .md file tab and saw nothing, went to the extension setting and was greeted with some subscription/login screen. Did not bother and uninstalled. |

In installed this extension on Brave (Linux Mint) so I could view markdown files, both on line and off line. When I opened a resident file, it didn't view it as a markdown file and all I saw was raw source. I was also hoping I could have updated the file when needed. I recognize that an extension shouldn't be considered as powerful or utilitarian as an editor, but being able to append to an open file should have been easy to do. |

Please add a print mode, the sole reason i looked for a way to use the webbrowser to render the rich text format for which 9 of 10 apps are webbrowsers in disguise. As it is, the sidebar uses half of the space and the font is way too big, fits 40 characters at most. Used |
