Trying to run "wsl --set-version Ubuntu 1" issue

Trying to run the above mentioned code in powershell.
My result is this: There is no distribution with the supplied name.
Error code: Wsl/Service/WSL_E_DISTRO_NOT_FOUND

I already ran the first set of code that was above this code and restarded my PC.
Same error.

I was able to get mine to build. I think the INSTALL.md file is out of date for current Windows. I am inexperienced though so I might be wrong or missing something. But these steps did work for me.

1. Install Ubuntu by running Powershell in Admin mode with command wsl --install -d Ubuntu
2. Open Ubuntu (through the start menu on Window) - You'll need to make a username and password (the terminal accepts input for the password but it doesn't print characters, as stated in the INSTALL.md)
3. Update Ubuntu sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
4. Get the packages needed sudo apt install build-essential binutils-arm-none-eabi git libpng-dev
5. Continue with installation steps

I don't know why it says to use wsl 1 but it works flawlessly even with the most up-to-date and suggested WSL2
