Always get location not defined error

Here is my .boto file
[Credentials]
aws_access_key_id = XXX
aws_secret_access_key = XXXXXX
[Boto]
region=us-east-1

Bit i always get error
"A region must be specified in your configuration."

I think this is where you specify the region: https://boto3.readthedocs.io/en/latest/guide/configuration.html#aws-config-file
I don't really like this system, if you have an idea of a better way to tell it what region to use I'd love to hear it
