Find bar options: Match Options misleading (only defaults)

In 1.48.1, the Find Bar tab of ContextSearch Options ends with a Match Options panel, which contains 5 options. The first 4 are (pseudo-)booleans, with checkboxes (plus the dropdown, "Words can be matched partially where searching 'lor' would match 'lorem', or exactly where only the complete word 'lor' will be highlighted").

According to the labels, these 4 options control how the Find bar performs searches. However, from what I see, these only control the default search settings ("separate word search", "Accuracy", "case sensitive" and "ignore punctuation"). In other words, even if "Case sensitive" is checked, the search may be case-insensitive (if "case sensitive" is not enabled).

Yeah, that settings section is for the defaults when the Find Bar is opened, but they should persist if you change them in the Find Bar. If you uncheck case-sensitive for example, the setting in the options page should also change. It's probably an unnecessary page, seeing as the user can change them from the Find Bar itself, but it does allow for better descriptions.

Ooh! Thank you @ssborbis, it seems that when a search is performed, the values of options indeed overwrite the values set in ContextSearch Options.

I don't know if normal options are warranted, but I don't think persisting the values when the user performs a search is desirable. For example, if I enable "Accuracy" for a certain search, I don't expect that the next search I perform a week later in an unrelated context will still exclude partial matches.

I very much agree with the importance of clarity and proper descriptions, but ContextSearch Options is not the only place where they can be presented. They could also be documented in Help, with a direct link from the Find Bar. Or they could be tooltips. Or, the bar could have an expanded mode more similar to the Options Pane of {find+} with labels.
