Even during the most restrictive and censorious times, there are calls for these corporations to censor even more. They are applauded for working with governments and coordinating with each other, and then they are encouraged or commanded to go even further.

For example, regarding speech restrictions around COVID, The Atlantic says:

In the great debate of the past two decades about freedom versus control of the network, China was largely right and the United States was largely wrong.

Regarding the election, both Axios and The NYT say they did better than 2016, but still not good enough, struggling to "balance civility and growth."

I think it's useful to track these types of things for future use as supporting evidence in articles that might be about where BigTech takes marching orders from or something like that.
