How to use symphony and its apis?

I'm fairly new to symphony.

1. How can I use Symphony on my local machine? Is it possible ?
2. Do I need to purchase a liscense?
3. How can we test Symphony Apis?
4. How can I set it up?
5. Is there any tutorial available for end-to-end workflow? E.g. from how to install symphony to create an api call and get the results!!
6. Provided that Symphony is installed by someone else, are the API-calls just curl requests where we need to set some parameteres? Or some fancy setup is required?
7. Is there any working example availble where I don't need to ask someone's help and I can test Symphony and its apis? e.g. maybe some kind of test instance with some dummy username/passowrd and other params hosted online!!
8. How can I follow this tutorial? From where can i find the variables/cofig values?
