For example , harddrive goes down. Backup is on NAS.
One should be able to have the harddrive separate (example USB casing) and be able to restore outside of bare metal.
Like burning an image/iso.

Hello! I understand what you're saying, but they are different things. The backup only saves configurable and customizable files, not everything.
Restoring therefore means restoring personal files to a working provmox (in your example, reinstalling provmox and restoring the backup).
