When importing a video on YouTube which is available in AV1+Opus to Wikimedia Commons, it was re-encoded by video2commons. It seems that AV1 is stored in .mp4 and Opus is stored in .webm.
This process wastes time on unnecessary encoding and reduces the quality of the video.
Both AV1 and Opus are free formats so there should be no need to re-encode the video. Avoiding unnecessary encoding will prevent unnecessary time wastage and loss of video quality.
