seems the attach method changed from rails 5-6 to return true instead of the newly attached attachment?

Seems the attach method changed from rails 5-6 to return true instead of the newly attached attachment? This hack is the easiest and closest to the original functionality and is a temp holdover till I get around to finishing #104 or similar prs.
