Description
Problem Description
The application is incorrectly calculating and displaying the total storage used and total storage capacity, resulting in critical alerts for usage over 100%.
Steps to Reproduce
- Navigate to the Dashboard or Virtual Machines view.
- Observe the System Alerts and the Host Resources -> Storage panel.
Expected Behavior
- The storage usage percentage should not exceed 100%.
- The reported Used storage should be less than or equal to the reported Total storage.
- The Total storage capacity should accurately reflect the total available space allocated to storage pools (e.g., the 1.8TB shown on the Storage page).
Actual Behavior (See Attached Screenshots)
-
Dashboard/VMs View:
- System Alert: Reports "Storage usage critical 109.0% of total storage used."
-
Host Resources -> Storage: Reports
$2042 \text{GB}$ used /$187 \text{GB}$ total. (Used amount is$\approx 11 \times$ the Total amount.)
-
Storage View:
- Reports Total Capacity:
$1.8 \text{TB}$ . (This conflicts with the$187 \text{GB}$ total on the Dashboard). - Storage pool usage sum (approx.
$1531.5 \text{GB}$ ) also conflicts with the$2042 \text{GB}$ used on the Dashboard.
- Reports Total Capacity:
System/Configuration Details
- Flint Version: (1.27.0)
- Operating System/Host: (Ubuntu 25.04)
- Storage Pool Configuration:
- All three storage pools (isos, flint-image-library, disks, default) are located on the same underlying partition/filesystem
Hypothesis on Cause
It appears the application may be incorrectly aggregating or summing the used space from multiple, distinct partitions/devices on the host, or perhaps it's incorrectly summing the used space of all storage pools plus the used space of the underlying filesystem, leading to the highly inflated "Used" number. Since my pools share the same underlying partition, it seems to be double or triple-counting that used space.
