Extension for the Unfair Contract Terms Directive

I'm interested in exploring the usage of both DPV and ODRL to model contractual agreements, for instance, to support legal frameworks such as the EU Directive on Unfair Contract Terms (UCTD). This would imply possibly creating an extension for this directive, for instance. I would like to hear DPVCG participants' opinions on whether this should be in scope of the group's activities or not.

Hi Beatriz. Thank you for the proposal. I think consumer protection in general is a distinct discipline, but it is very much in scope when applied to privacy, data protection, etc. So with this in mind, I support extensions for consumer protection to the extent that we are dealing with roles, risks, harms, etc. I do not think modelling contracts (e.g. for sharing non-personal data) would be in scope of this group. So if you are modelling contracts for a service involving personal data or about humans in ODRL, the consumer protection vocabulary can (and should) come from DPV. Please discuss this in the meeting on WED OCT-08.

To provide more context, previous work on providing an ODRL profile for this is available at https://isa-group.github.io/tosl/

Indeed, a possible DPV extension on this would be focusing on contractual agreements that involve personal data; anything else should be out of scope and can continue to be managed on the ODRL profile or somewhere else.

It might be also interesting to check if there are more ContractControls we should consider for the core DPV spec.

Furthermore, I also think it makes sense to check how it aligns/overlaps with the https://w3id.org/dpv/standards/p7012 extension as we will also be looking at conflict resolution strategies and in the p7012 spec we have already modelled a few of these
