Problem / Steps to reproduce

Is there a way to limit the number of shown rows by default?

If not, please consider to add a command line option, an entry from a config file, and/or
an environment var like CSVIEW_ROW_LIMIT .. If such an option is given, another
option to again show all rows would also be recommended.

Sometimes only a preview of the file is needed, and some CSV files are very large.

Hi @mdnava, csview supports streaming rendering. It only read and rendering the content on demand (just like the less pager). So you don't need to worry about the entire large file being loaded at once. If you really need to predetermine the number of rows to view, I would suggest using head:

$ head -50 large.csv | csview
