Please use a tagging scheme based on actual version number

GitHub generate tarballs named after tags, where dots are removed w.r.t. version numbers (release121, release 1211...), which makes this project difficult to track for new versions with automatic tools. Why are dots removed in the first place? Would you consider adopting a different scheme, something that can be distinguished from the current scheme by a regexp, such as v1.21, v1.21.1...?

I didn't realize these silly tag names would cause problems elsewhere. (A name is a name.) But I take note to use more standard names in the future.
