This PR updates the deprecated ubuntu-20.04 runner to ubuntu-latest in the GitHub Actions workflow to ensure compatibility and access to the latest tooling.

Changes Made

  • Updated .github/workflows/python-test.yaml line 16: os: ["ubuntu-20.04"]os: ["ubuntu-latest"]

Why This Change is Needed

GitHub has deprecated Ubuntu 20.04 runners and they will be removed in the future. The ubuntu-latest runner provides:

  • Always uses the most recent stable Ubuntu LTS version
  • Receives the latest security updates and patches
  • Includes updated tooling and dependencies
  • Future-proofs workflows against deprecation

Impact

The workflow will continue to test Python versions 3.8, 3.9, 3.10, and 3.11 with PostgreSQL 12, but now runs on the latest Ubuntu runner instead of the deprecated ubuntu-20.04. This is a non-breaking change that maintains all existing functionality while ensuring the CI/CD pipeline remains supported.

Fixes #60.
