General Configuration

CD4017BE edited this page Feb 8, 2019 · 1 revision

All world generation features that this mod adds to the game are defined in it's configuration file wich can be found at .../config/cd4017be/verticalDimensionStack.rcp.
This is basically a script that runs during game startup. The individual settings and features are explained in the other pages of this wiki.

In case you accidentally mess things up in the configuration script, error messages will be printed to the log during startup that tell what went wrong. In case you have a large modpack with lots of mods spamming stuff into the log you can easily find these messages by searching for the token ScriptException using your text editor's search function (Ctrl-F).

World-save persistent settings

When creating a new world, all world generation related settings resulting from the current configuration script are saved alongside that world's save directory in the file dimensionstack.dat that uses the NBT-Format similar to level.dat.

This ensures that changes in the config script won't affect the world generation of already existing save games. So you can have multiple saves with different dimension stack structure and world generation settings in the same minecraft instance without problems.
You can still force change the settings of an existing world by deleting it's dimensionstack.dat-file (if you don't care about sudden sharp changes in terrain or other artifacts).

Default Settings

By the default settings this mod will do the following:

  • place the Nether below the Overworld (connected with portal blocks)
  • replace the Overworld bedrock layer with stone
  • replace the upper Nether bedrock layer (at Y level 127) with obsidian.
  • generate a underground giant cave terrain with a water lake at the ground into the usually empty top half of the Nether (Y levels 128 to 255).
Testing has shown that regular nether mobs spawn there too.
  • disable diamond ore generation in the overworld
  • add ore generation for vanilla ores (including diamond) into the top-half-Nether with slightly higher yield than in the Overworld.
  • if other mods provide them, also Copper, Tin, Aluminium, Nickel, Silver, Lead, Platinum and Uranium ore are generated there with concentrations varying on height.

These default settings are mainly meant as a demo and modpack / map creators are encouraged to change them as well as include dimensions from other mods as they like.
