A long while ago I wrote a post on monitoring your Masternode with Monit.

Unfortunately, while Monit is great for checking if things are running, it's not the best at checking to see if your Masternode is actually healthy.

There's a little trick you can do using Node Noodle, in combination with Monit. If you're already running Monit, setup Node Noodle to bring down the Masternode when blocks aren't moving. You should set the block check time higher than normal to avoid needlessly stopping the Masternode. Don't specify a start command in Node Noodle, only a stop.

What will happen when there's an issue, is that Node Noodle will bring down your Masternode, and wait for Monit to bring it back up. This allows Node Noodle and Monit to play nice together!
