A Minecraft mod that increases the game's difficulty without adding any new content to Minecraft (e.g. items, blocks, entities) or altering world generation. These are the modified java source code files. Source code areas that I've modified are marked with my comments.
v1.0.0 for Minecraft 1.5.1.

Most mobs do 1.5x damage.
Many mobs are more likely to wear armor, use enchanted gear/weapons, and/or pick up loot.
Some mobs can detect the player from a much greater distance.
Some mobs have been given a small speed boost.
Many mobs drop more experience and more loot.
Under certain conditions, lethal Arrows From The Ground will shoot upwards in volleys.
Creeper: they are more aggressive and destructive than before. They may explode even if they don't see you, and they cannot stop their fuse once it starts. Their explosion power has been increased, but they have a slightly higher fuse time. On death, they drop weak primed TNT. They also avoid Skeletons.
Zombie: often heavily armored, they can break down doors on any difficulty and have an increased chance of equipping a sword or a shovel. They also may cause Slowness on contact.
Skeleton: also often heavily armored, they also shoot slightly faster. With a high chance of using an enchanted bow, they can shoot more powerful arrows.
Spider: beware their venom; they can cause very brief poison and hunger effects on contact. They sometimes spawn web blocks in their path. Player detection radius is very high.
Cave Spider: in addition to everything that the Spider has, the Cave Spider has an upgraded venom that can cause temporary blindness, nausea, hunger, weakness, slowness, and/or death. The venom also works on any difficulty; its duration has been slightly increased.
Silverfish: they give Weakness, Nausea, and Resistance effects. They may spawn deep underground in the Overworld.
Endermen: they do more damage.
Spider Jockeys: 4x as common, spiders can spawn not just with a Skeleton on its back, but with multiple Creepers, Zombies, and Skeletons as well. There are also conjoined Spiders.
Slimes: slow the player on contact due to sliminess.
Nether:
Blazes, Wither Skeletons, and Cave Spiders may now spawn anywhere in the Nether. Witches have a chance to spawn near Nether structures. Nether mobs drop more EXP than regular mobs.
Blazes: they spawn fire blocks in their path. Blazes may spawn deep in Overworld caves, but those that do don't drop blaze rods.
Zombie Pigman: they will get angry if you get too close. They have a high chance of equipping an enchanted sword.
Ghasts: not only do they shoot multiple fireballs, some of the fireballs are 2x as powerful and cause negative effects if you are hit directly.
Magma Slimes: can ignite the player on contact; health is 2x normal; can slow the player on contact.
Other:
Roses do damage on contact due to their sharp thorns.
Fire spreads more easily.
All raw foods (beef, pork, chicken, fish) have an 80% chance to give Hunger effects.
Raw zombie meat has a 100% chance to give Hunger effects.
Spider eyes and poisonous potatoes give Poison II.
Rain and thunderstorms are more common.
Lightning strikes in clusters that may spawn random monsters: Charged Creepers, Blazes, Pig Zombies, Silverfish, Skeletons, Spiders, Zombies, Witches, and Slimes.
Lightning can strike in snow biomes.
The player may take damage due to the cold in cold biomes if they are not clothed enough; damage taken is increased if in contact with water or snow.
Make sure you have Minecraft 1.5.1, a clean minecraft.jar, and awareness that this is my first mod.
