This web app creates a car rental service in which users can rent cars for a specified number of days.
Dans Shady Business will be stored as a web app in this repository.
Documentation will be kept in a directory called "docs"
Project will be kept in a directory called "dansshadybusiness"
Each group member should have a forked repository of the app in Ryan's account of the project "cs3450_group-4" in their Github. Each group member should have a cloned version of this repository, and will submit pull requests to monitor progress.
Django is our groups framework of choice for this app. We all have experience using Django, and the SQLLite database that is included with Django.
Clone the project in git bash. $ git clone https://github.com/RyanGubler/cs3450_group4
Migrate in bash $ python manage.py migrate
Next, to create a manager user, $ python manage.py createsuperuser
Go through the instructions after running the command, those will be used for login.
Finally, $ python manage.py runserver
Navigate in the browser to localhost:8000 /product to view the app.
There is a chance your device needs to run it using '127.0.0.1' instead of 'localhost'. Try both.
There might be some errors with the calendar.js file, which contains the fetch operation. Please change the url as needed in that file.
Unit tests will cover all of the use case diagrams located in Requirements_definition.docx
Unit tests can be found in the tests.py file located in the product directory.
The following tests will be ran when the following command is input when inside the dansshadybusiness directory, `` $ python manage.py test
- Testing Cars
- Testing Car names and prices
- Testing Car reservations
- Testing Car reservations dates
- Testing custom users
- Testing custom users and their passwords and usernames
Start by running $ python manage.py runserver in the app directory.
Now that the app is running, navigate to localhost:8000 /product.
Login using the super user credentials in the build instructions.
Use this manager account to look through the website.
To use a user account: - click logout button in top right of any page - Create a new account in the login page - explore the website as a user
To use an employee account: - using the super user, go the 'hire' page. - hire an existing user account using their email - logout - login with that 'user' you just hired - explore the website as an employee
