In our ongoing commitment to transparency and user safety, we want to address potential false positives associated with Polsu's Overlay, especially in relation to Windows Defender and certain browsers. The issue revolves around the use of PyInstaller (program used to convert the Python file to an executable) and the false alarms triggered due to its association with malware creation.

Technical Insight:

False positives are generated as a result of shared elements in PyInstaller's bootloader, which is a common component among various applications. This has been discussed in-depth in the PyInstaller GitHub repository: PyInstaller Issue #6754.

Mitigation:

The primary way to prevent these false positives is to sign the executable, a process that involves obtaining a digital certificate. However, acquiring a certificate usually incurs a cost.

In our efforts to address this issue, we have submitted Polsu's Overlay to Microsoft for manual verification (can take 30 days to complete). This involves a thorough examination by Microsoft's security experts to ensure the legitimacy and safety of the application. We are committed to resolving any false positive concerns promptly.
