Using the beacons is pretty simple. Follow the steps below to get warping around in no time.

  1. Set up at least two beacons at different points.
  2. Make sure they have some amount of Karborundum. Karborundum is not found on Kerbin, but is located in trace amounts on the surfaces of Eve and Eeloo, as well as in some asteroids within the Kerbol system.
  3. Bring a ship with any of the stock antennas within load distance (2.3km) of one of the beacons.
  4. Right click the antenna and select "Initialize Hailer." You should see the beacon register in the menu. Attempt to approach within 200m of the beacon and kill your relative velocity.
  5. When ready to warp, either click "Beacon Interface" in the antenna menu or click the UI button at top right. You should see your other beacon(s) displayed. If their names are in red, you need more Karborundum to warp. If they're grey, then a celestial body is blocking your line of sight and you need to wait for a better alignment.
  6. Click the name of the beacon you want to warp to.
  7. Read the screen that comes up carefully. It describes a list of things that may happen as a result of the warp, and you should not warp if you don't want any of those things to happen to your ship.
  8. Click confirm and warp. Presto! You're reasonably close to your target beacon.

Please remember that crewed transport is really, really inadvisable without a Heisenkerb Compensator installed.
