I intend to keep working on this post-thesis in a couple weeks but thought I'd draft it for visibility in case anyone wants to work off this instead of off main or wants to convert to pr and merge if it is better than main |

Took a sledgehammer to the docs.
Added "sphinx.ext.autosectionlabel", to conf.py to allow section labels to subheadings on pages. Happy to roll this back and add manual section labels if anyone thinks that'd be good (having this causes lots of warnings, and I initially added it because I didn't know how to do manual section labels). Apart from that, conf.py is unchanged except for my autoformatter running black over it.
