Create a GitHub Issue for website content

John Haney edited this page Aug 20, 2018 · 5 revisions

To request new content for the website (ie. jobs, events, news, etc.), you need to have a GitHub account. See the documentation here to create an account if you do not have one.

  1. Sign into GitHub and navigate to the centexgis organization.

  2. Select the centexgis.github.io repository (repo).

  3. Towards the top of the repo page, you should see a list of tabs like below. Select the 'Issues' tab.

github issues tab

  1. Create a new issue by selecting the green 'New Issue' button.

create new issue

  1. Type a title for the issue describing the new content you wish to be added to the website (ie. 'Add new job posting from XYZ company').

  2. In the body of the new Issue, leave comments describing the new content you wish to have added to the website. This is where you will copy over any text you have for a job posting, event, news post, etc. You can provide images, links, etc, if you wish by writing markdown and/or using the new issue menu at the top.

  1. Tag a label to the new issue by selecting labels from the right side and choosing 'news', 'job', 'event', and/or 'new content'. *There are additional labels that can be added if needed.

  1. Click 'Submit new issue' and you are done. The person or persons who you assign to create the website content will be notified. Feel free to comment on the issue thread/forum or edit your submission/request if you feel you need to add or change something.
