Google APIs usually have a 3-tier rate limiting: - anonymous access (you don't provide any authentication) - registered access (you have added an API client to Google's developer console) - business access (you've opted into Googles Premium Plan) The 2nd access level, which grants 2,5k requests per 24h, was not available prior to this commit.

I've observed a bunch of test failures after deleting VCR cassettes. It turned out, that the JSON request doesn't include the API key, which means my test client fell into tighter rate limits.
Google APIs nowadays have a 3-tier rate limiting:
The 2nd access level, which grants 2,5k requests per 24h, and bursts of 50 per 1s, was not available prior to this commit.
