My favorite animal

Elephas maximas indicus

Interesting facts :

• These elephants weigh around 11000 pounds and are 6.5-11.5 ft tall.
• They live in forests in the Eastern Himalayas and Greater Makong.
• They are endangered, with a population of less than 50,000.
• Asian elephants are very social and are led by the oldest female, the matriarch.
• They can spend more than 2/3 of the day eating grasses, tree bark, and leaves.
  • They also like eating bananas, rice and sugarcane!
• Elephants need to drink at least once a day, so they always stay close to a water source.
