@krissi Thanks Christian, that's exactly what I needed pessimize for and your pr made it happen! I tried submitted this as an issue to your fork, however there was no issues tab. The constraints for gemspec and changes to the file were

I modified the pessimizer for myself to use it on gemspecs. This is no more than a proof of concept I am sharing in case anyone picks up this project again and wants to merge it
