🏗️ Built at Hack the North 2025

regARder is an Augmented Reality French language-learning tool built for Snap Spectacles.

It lets you look at the world differently — every object you “capture” in the real world is instantly annotated with its French translation, floating right above it in AR.

✨ Inspiration

Learning a new language is easiest when it’s connected to your environment. Instead of memorizing flashcards on a screen, regARder brings vocabulary into your everyday surroundings. By blending computer vision with real-time AR translation, we help learners practice French naturally, just by looking around.

🛠️ How It Works

1. See – Look at an object through Snap Spectacles.
2. Capture – Our vision pipeline detects and identifies the object.
3. Translate – The French word appears above the object in real-time.
   • 🍎 → pomme
   • 🪑 → chaise
   • 📚 → livre

🧩 Tech Stack

• Snap Spectacles (AR capture) – for live vision + display.
• Snap Lens Studio + Snap3D – to overlay translations in 3D space.
• OpenAI API – to detect the captured objects.

📦 Getting Started

1. Clone the repo:

   git clone https://github.com/your-username/regARder.git

2. Open in Snap Lens Studio.
3. Link your Spectacles device.
4. Run the Lens and start capturing the world in French!
