Writing Your Dissertation

The final dissertation should include all the publications relevant to your PhD. Start by collecting and organizing your publications.

Reference Management

I recommend using Zotero for managing references.

• Integration with Overleaf: Upload Zotero references directly to Overleaf.
• Group Libraries: Use Zotero’s group library feature to collaborate and manage your thesis references.

Timeline Notes

Key Preparations (Follow Checklist)

1. Five Weeks Before Your Defense Date:

• Submit application for thesis defense: Download here
• Prepare committee documents:
  • CVs for opponent/committee members (if outside academia)
  • Summary of advance review
• TRITA and ISBN:
  • Get TRITA from Fredrik.
  • Apply for ISBN here.

2. Three Weeks Before Your Defense Date:

• Thesis cover: Optional but recommended.
• Printing: Print at least 30 copies via US-AB.
  • Finalized versions:
    • Kappa only
    • Kappa + Papers
• Diva Submission:
  • Write a 2000-character mini-abstract for Diva.
  • Nailing ("make it public") and upload to Diva.
  • Complete the Media Agreement Form (instructions here).
• Distribution List:
  • Get padded envelopes from Mikael Selington.
  • Provide Mikael with addresses for mailing. Ensure tracking is enabled.
• Catering and Gifts: Arrange the room, Zoom link, catering, and gifts as needed.

3. Before Defense:

• Final checks: Confirm all details with Aco.

4. After Defense:

• Degree Application: Submit your application. It typically takes two weeks for processing.
