Just FYI, we already do have a calendar events list at https://lug.cs.uic.edu/events.xml. Might be worth considering if you'd like to integrate the GCal iframe with it or embed the events.xml page itself on the main page. I've been wanting to improve the existing events page for awhile, but I never got around to modifying the XSLT transformer.

Embedding events.xml on main page like index page or events.xml in the calendar page?

Either one or both. I think embedding the calendar is a good idea too, but it should probably be done with the existing events page in mind.
