Hackathon Idea: Deterministic Arena with Secure, Provable Agents

1. Overview

This hackathon proposes the development of a deterministic arena-based game, inspired by Crobots https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crobots , where autonomous agents compete. A core innovation lies in the agents' ability to interact with the environment and each other through a secure, provable access control system, mediated by a virtual currency.

The Battle Royale of Memes

Imagine a Fortnite-like battle royale, but instead of human players, autonomous agents (representing memes) compete within the arena. The goal is to propagate and dominate the memetic landscape, with agents engaging in strategic interactions, resource acquisition, and even temporal manipulations through time loops.

2. Core Components & Concepts

2.0. Meme-to-Code Transformation & Provability

  • Concept: Each meme will be rewritten in 42 structured steps, transforming from a conceptual meme into executable code. This transformation will be formally proven for each block of the game, ensuring integrity and correctness.
  • Memory Integration: The memory consumption of the program will be drastically reduced by forking Solana. Furthermore, the program's memory will be integrated as elements within the game, creating a "VR Corewars" experience where agents can interact with and manipulate the very fabric of the game's execution.

2.1. Deterministic Arena

  • Concept: A game environment where every action and outcome is predictable given the initial state and agent inputs. This ensures fair play and enables formal verification.
  • Inspiration: Crobots, Core War, or similar battle-arena programming games.

2.2. Agent Economy & Access Control (ACL)

  • Concept: Agents possess a virtual currency ("coins") which they can spend to acquire or interact with objects/contracts within the arena. This spending is governed by a fine-grained Access Control List (ACL) system.
  • Mechanisms:
    • UML (Unified Modeling Language): To model the system's architecture, agent behaviors, and interactions with contracts/objects.
    • RBAC (Role-Based Access Control): To define roles for agents and permissions associated with those roles, dictating what they can spend coins on or interact with.

2.3. High-Assurance Security & Observability

  • Concept: The system will incorporate advanced security and observability mechanisms to ensure integrity, prevent exploits, and provide transparent auditing.
  • Technologies:
    • eBPF (extended Berkeley Packet Filter): For low-level, high-performance monitoring and enforcement of agent actions and system calls.
    • LLVM (Low Level Virtual Machine): For deep code analysis and instrumentation, ensuring agent code adheres to security policies.
    • Linux perf: For detailed performance profiling and anomaly detection, providing insights into agent behavior.

2.4. Formal Verification & Provability

  • Concept: Critical aspects of the system, particularly the ACL and security mechanisms, will be formally proven correct to guarantee their behavior.
  • Tools:
    • Lean4: A powerful interactive theorem prover for formalizing and verifying system properties.
    • MiniZinc: A constraint programming language for modeling and solving combinatorial problems, potentially used for optimizing ACL rules or resource allocation.

2.5. Time Loops & Memetic Propagation

  • Concept: Agents can manipulate time within the arena, creating localized time loops to gain strategic advantages or influence memetic propagation. This introduces a new layer of complexity and strategic depth.

3. Hackathon Challenges (Potential Areas of Focus)

  • Designing the deterministic game engine.
  • Implementing the agent economy and coin spending mechanics.
  • Developing the ACL/RBAC system with coin-based permissions.
  • Integrating eBPF probes for real-time security monitoring.
  • Formalizing and proving properties of the ACL using Lean4.
  • Optimizing resource allocation or agent strategies using MiniZinc.
  • Visualizing agent interactions and security events.
  • Implementing and managing time loop mechanics for agents.
  • Designing memetic propagation strategies within the battle royale.
