Introduction

Setting up a Factions server initially requires a bit of thinking. That is why this guide was created! To try and ease you into the configuration process.

LegacyFactions was created to support every server type with little dependency on extra plugins. But of course, some servers require some pretty unique features - so it's understandable if you need to create your own plugins. If this is you check out the developer API, it's powerful, and an easy way to add features to the server!

What type of gameplay are you after?

Here are some questions to think before we get started, I suggest picking up a piece of paper and writing down which of these you are after:

  1. Your game mode: peaceful, semi-competitive, competitive, or hardcore?
  2. Your economy! Does your server have an economy? What should players pay for?
  3. Do you want to allow warps? Warps with passwords?
  4. Do you want to create multiple permanent areas for RPG purposes?
  5. What commands do you want players to use?

Lets get started then..

Once you've thought about that we can move on!
