1つずつ差分をとっていく方が１回のループで差分を取れると思ったのですが、この場合はループを２回する方が自然で良い感じがしますか？

コメントと違って、0は足していないわけですよね。意味があまり表現されていないです。
あと、たぶん、2回目のループは最適化されて消えると思いますよ。
