…talling computation Stdout logging was using blocking I/O, causing the system to hang or crawl in verbose/debug mode due to the high volume of trace events from hot paths (instruction execution, fitness eval). Switch all stdout writers to tracing_appender::non_blocking, matching the existing file logging approach. Introduce TracingGuard to hold all WorkerGuards.
Compare rayon-parallelized fitness evaluation against the sequential baseline across population sizes (50, 100, 200, 500) using the Iris problem. Demonstrates 3.4x-5.9x speedups scaling with population size.
Add --n-threads option to HyperParameters, ExperimentParams, and ExperimentConfig to control the number of rayon threads used for parallel fitness evaluation. Defaults to all available cores when not specified.
Parallelize fitness evaluation with rayon
Move git hooks from scripts/ to .githooks/ directory managed by sr. Configure commit-msg, pre-commit (format + lint), and pre-push (test) hooks in sr.yaml for consistency and maintainability.
Remove scripts/compile_latex.sh which is no longer used by the project.
Add binaries job to release workflow to automatically build and upload prebuilt binaries for x86_64 and aarch64 on Linux and macOS. Export tag from release job outputs for use in downstream jobs.
Remove complex just recipes and rely on direct cargo commands. Keep only install, build, test, and fmt. This reduces dependency on task runner and makes commands more transparent to users.
Add install.sh script to download and install prebuilt binaries from GitHub releases. Supports Linux and macOS with x86_64 and aarch64 architectures, automating binary discovery and installation.
Remove references to just task runner and update examples to use direct cargo and lgp commands. Simplify setup instructions to focus on cargo install and remove obsolete manual hooks setup documentation.
chore: streamline build, release, and install setup
Strip verbose sections (architecture, output structure, hyperparameter details, full CLI reference) in favor of a concise install + usage flow. The prebuilt binary install via install.sh is now the recommended path.
Keep all original references with categorical grouping intact — important context for an academic project.
Consolidate all academic references in the thesis repo and point readers there from the README.
Add back the feature overview, supported environments, full CLI reference with flags, hyperparameter search details, output structure, log levels, and core traits — keeping the streamlined install.sh flow.
docs: simplify README for install.sh and core usage
Remove the 'example' CLI command as examples are now better served by running them directly with 'cargo run' from the lgp crate. This simplifies the CLI surface and leverages standard Cargo tooling.
Update README to document the new way to run examples using 'cargo run' directly from the lgp crate. Remove references to the removed 'lgp example' CLI command and its --list option.
Move CartPole and Iris classification examples from the top-level examples directory to crates/lgp/examples. This colocates examples with the crate they demonstrate, improving project organization and making dependencies clearer. Update run instructions in example documentation to specify the lgp crate package explicitly.
