Can Henk's changes to .gitignore be merged? I've just done a git add based on the this template and it added the entire .build directory ;( |

I added a standard documentation Makefile which contains all the SPHINX and DOXYGEN lines, and an 'all' target that copies the HTML documentation over to a gh_pages version; if that is checked out.
I also updated .gitignore to reflect the new build names, and to ignore any documentation build stuff.
