External Users
If you are an external EFSA's user follow the steps listed below for installing the Catalogue browser on your computer:
-
Create a local folder in which to store the EFSA catalogues browser (e.g. C:\EFSA).

-
Download from the Requirements section the installer.
-
Extract the content of the downloaded zip file into the folder created previously (C:\EFSA). After the extraction a subfolder named EFSA-catalogues-browser-installer-win-64 (or EFSA-catalogues-browser-installer-win-32 if downloaded the 32bit version) is created.
Note that it is possible to rename the subfolder but it must not contain spaces as they may cause general application malfunctions.
-
The subfolder folder shall contain the following:
- the config folder,
- the file named CatalogueBrowser.exe,
- a jre_x86 or jre folder (for the 32 and 64-bit version respectively).
-
If you downloaded the 32-bit version, your main folder should contain two folders (“config” and “jre_x86”), as well as the CatalogueBrowser.exe file.
If you downloaded the 64-bit version, your main folder should contain two folders (“config” and “jre”), as well as the CatalogueBrowser.exe file.
-
Double click on the 'CatalogueBrowser.exe' file to start the installation. This will automatically check if there is a new version of the tool available on GitHub (an Internet connection is required at this step). If the version is use is the latest one than the program will automatically open and the main page will look as shown below:

If the main page has been opened without receiving any error, then continue the guide with the first software configuration.
-
If the following error message appears after launching the application then you do not have admin rights on your computer. In this case, try to install the software in another drive (if available) or refer to the Information Technology (IT) colleagues of your organisation.

If the connection problem persists even if you are connected to the Internet then you will need to change the proxy parameters as explained here.
Note that the application shall always be launched from the CatalogueBrowser.exe file in order to allow the system to check for updates. You can add shortcut to your desktop in order to be able to directly access the tool.
